Lalindloch Palace is a heritage building located on the banks of Lake Vellayani. It was one of the summer palaces of Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi who ruled the erstwhile Travancore state during 1924-31. The name of the palace is a combination of the first names of the Maharani’s daughters, ‘Lal’ithamba and ‘Ind’ira, with the Scottish word ‘loch’ representing the Vellayani Lake. Today Lalindloch Palace houses the College of Agriculture, Vellayani.

“Mukhappu” – a trademark of Kerala architecture. “Mukhappu” is the decorative top of the sloping portion in the front of the building. Sometimes it is also seen in the middle portion of the sides. This “mukhappu” has the Royal Tranvancore emblem (conch) sculpted in the middle.
